Is a Diamond Engagement Ring Insurance Necessary?

Extremely gorgeous and highly valuable are only some of the words to describe diamonds. These are some factors that make them popular and one of the most coveted stones of women.  Regardless of reason, diamond engagement jewelry is worth quite a great price.

These precious pieces equally deserve special treatment. Women truly love to own these extravagant items and they don’t mind keeping and caring for these jewelry with all their hearts.  And because diamond enagement rings costs are pricey and losing just one piece will really break your heart, you need to take extra measures other than giving the best care for your priced jewels.  For these reasons, it is essential to have them insured.  When your valuable pieces are insured, you will have peace.

There are three types of insurances for diamonds and these are: Actual Cash Value, Agreed Value and Replacement Value. With actual cash value diamond insurance, the item is replaced based on the current rates in the market.  The hidden disadvantage here is that you may have purchased your stone in a pricey rate or more affordable rate than the current value and you can either gain or lose in this type of deal in case you lose your diamond.  This type of insurance is not very common today as this is a rare kind of insurance.

Insuring your diamond through the agreed value option requires an agreeable price of the diamond between the insurance company and the buyer.  This means that both parties agree on the diamond’s value and in case the item gets lost, the agreed value is the amount given to you as a compensation for the loss.  However, this has also been a rare option today.

The replacement value is the most common type of insurance for diamonds.  This means that the insurance company will replace the diamond you lost by negotiating with you the lowest price that is agreeable to you as well and the value can be lesser than the actual price of the diamond you bought.  It is actually up to you on how to get a good deal with the insurance company and have them pay for the item you lost in an amount that can be equivalent to the diamond’s worth.

In addition, you must also make sure that the diamond insurance also covers your diamond when you have them as you travel or attend occasions and not just when you are at home.  When these matters are settled, you can then sit in serenity as you wear your diamond or flaunt your luxurious jewel outside and anytime you choose.
